This year’s Quick-Goethert lecture will be presented in the UTSI
auditorium on Nov. 13 at 4 p.m. by Dr. Thomas Scherer, Vice
President of Environmental Control Systems Engineering with Airbus
Deutschland, the German headquarters of one of the world's leading
aircraft manufacturers.
Professor Scherer will speak about the use of innovative new
materials in aircraft construction, particularly carbon fiber, a
phenomenal material that is being heavily researched at UTSI.
Scherer’s lecture is entitled "Technological Tendencies and
Challenges in Aircraft Design. The A350 XWB." According to Dr.
Scherer, “The A350 XWB brings together the very latest in
aerodynamics, design and advanced technologies.”
Dr. Scherer will explain the advances in aerodynamics, manufacturing
and materials that work together to improve fuel economy, lower
maintenance costs, and minimize the noise and environmental impact
in this new aircraft.
Please join us for this year’s Quick-Goethert Lecture to hear the
latest in flight technology from this world leader in aviation
systems engineering.
