UT Space Institute students Josh Batterson and Jesse Labello
(shown above left to right) represented the UTSI campus at UT Day on
the Hill on Feb. 27. These student leaders mingled with state
lawmakers in Nashville’s Legislative Plaza spreading the word about
UT’s middle Tennessee campus. Jesse finished his Master’s degree in
Physics in December and is continuing to work toward a Ph.D. at
UTSI. Originally from Livingston, LA, Jesse is now UTSI’s Student
Government Association (SGA) President and enjoys golf, fishing,
softball, working out, skydiving, white water rafting, and flying.
Josh finished his Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering in the
fall of 2007 and is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in the field of
hydrodynamic instabilities. Josh is originally from Indiana, but has
been at UTSI since 2005, and currently serves as UTSI’s SGA Vice
President of Finance and the UTSI Recreations and Athletics Club
President. When he’s not in the lab or the classroom, Josh enjoys
golf, softball, football, other intramural sports, reading, and
movies.
