The Aviation Systems Program operates a fleet of dedicated research aircraft that are used for education and research.

  • Heart of flight operations for UTSI
  • Utilizes five onboard data stations for students and researchers to monitor and record in-flight data
  • Fully instrumented for performance as well as stability and control flight testing
  • Configured to carry advanced sensors in support of airborne science operations

  • Fully instrumented for performance and stability and control flight testing.

Extra 300

  • Fully aerobatic, 2-seat research aircraft
  • Departure and spin education and research
  • Utilized for research requiring highly maneuverable, aerobatic capabilities

Aero Navion

Aero Navion

  • Variable-stability in-flight simulator
  • Aircraft can simulate the flying qualities of different aircraft in flight
  • This aircraft is currently being retrofitted with a new engine

Cessna 150

Cessna 150

  • Owned by UTSI's Aero Club
  • Available for research projects requiring a smaller and slower aircraft
