The University of Tennessee Space Institute (UTSI) now
offers a Master of Science degree in Engineering Science with a
Concentration in Flight Test Engineering. This unique graduate
engineering degree is focused towards students that desire to work in
the areas of aerospace flight testing and research.
The Flight Test Engineering curriculum draws heavily from the UTSI
Programs in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Aviation
Systems. The curriculum covers the fundamentals of Flight Test
Engineering, including Performance, Stability & Control, and Systems
Flight Testing and Engineering/Test Management.
The Flight Test Engineering degree is a “hands on” educational experience where the student utilizes the many unique UTSI flight-related facilities, including the fleet of UTSI flight research aircraft, the Flight Research Simulation Laboratory, and the Flight Systems Laboratory. The student will learn Flight Test Engineering by flying in UTSI aircraft, performing flight test techniques and collecting and analyzing real flight data.
Academic and flight laboratory courses available for the Engineering Science / Flight Test Engineering Concentration include the following.
