MABE Mechanical Engineering Overview

Graduate programs in mechanical engineering are available to students holding BS engineering degrees from ABET-accredited undergraduate programs or their foreign equivalents, which lead to the degrees of Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy with a major in Mechanical Engineering. Areas of particular academic and research interest include: mechanical systems, air breathing, rocket and futuristic flight propulsion systems, heat and mass transfer, classical and statistical thermodynamics, energy conversion systems, mechanical vibration, materials, and structures. Study in each of these areas usually involves a combination of analysis, computer modeling and experimental approaches. The primary goals of the program are to provide the student with a strong background in mechanical engineering sciences and practice, and to involve the student in an environment representative of current research and development activity.
