  • 1996 - present:  Associate Professor of Physics, UTSI/CLA; 1999-present: Acting Director for Computer Services at UTSI; 1993-1996: Assistant Professor of Physics, UTSI/CLA; 1991-1993:  Adjunct Research Assistant Professor, UTSI/CLA; 1989-1991: Research Associate, UTSI/CLA; 1987-1989: Post-Doctoral Research Associate, UTSI/CLA; 1984-1986: Demonstrator in Physics University of Otago, Dunedin, New Zealand; 1982-1983: Computer Programmer, Institute for Theoretical Physics, University of Innsbruck, Austria.  Member of the Optical Society of America, American Institute of Physics, and New Zealand Institute of Physics.
  • Research interest in experimental and theoretical physics, particularly electromagnetic interactions, quantum optics, non-linear optics, atomic and molecular physics; experience with argon-ion and narrow-line dye lasers, high vacuum physics, digital electronics, sub-picosecond laser systems, optical pico-second amplifiers, nano-second pulsed excimer and dye lasers, time-resolved spectroscopy, high power phenomena, laser induced plasma physics, laser induced fluorescence thermometer, laser fluorescence velocimeter, optical bistability, laser interaction with droplet fields, optical breakdown, image analysis, ultrafast photography, photon counting; combustion diagnostics; spectroscopic temperature measurements using atomic lines and molecular spectra; participation in a variety of sponsored research work including the preparation of proprietary reports; supervise and educate graduate students in research work and serve in MSc and PhD committees; established, initial working Beowulf cluster of 30+ machines at UTSI, and working Condor cluster of 40+ machines at UTSI; presented tutorials and one-on-one in the use of parallel computing.
  • Principal investigator for "Intrinsic Optical Bistability in Quantum Size Metal Composites," and "Droplet Behavior at Supercritical Pressures."  Project director of  "Acquisition of an Ultra-High Speed Diagnostics System," of NSF-ARI grant# CTS-9512489.  Collaborated with Professor J.W.L. Lewis in research work associated with major contracts at UTSI/CLA.
