Education

  • Ph.D. Mechanical Engineering, Brigham Young University, 1997
  • B.S. Mechanical Engineering, Brigham Young University, 1993

Professional Experience

Dr. Morton joined the University of Tennessee Space Institute in 2007 as a Research Assistant Professor after working for nearly a decade in the gas turbine industry. He worked as gas turbine design engineer at General Electric and a power turbine design engineer at Rolls-Royce. His research includes bluff-body aerodynamics, turbine blade/vortex interactions, mathematical methods for vortex-dominated flows, aerodynamic drag, fluid friction, heat transfer, and turbomachinery simulation.

Research

Fundamental research on drag and heat transfer of immersed bodies, methods for predicting flow separation, mathematical techniques in fluid dynamics, wind energy.
