Regional Activities to Highlight National Engineers’ Week, February 16-20

A banquet, luncheon, free short courses, student design competitions, and an “engineer-for-a-day” program will highlight National Engineers Week activities Feb. 16-20.

The regional engineering and science societies will host a recognition banquet at 6 p.m. on February 19, at the University of Tennessee Space Institute’s dining room. Dr. Frank Akers, former associate director of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, will present a talk on “National Security.” Cost of attending is $30. An AIAA-sponsored luncheon at the Arnold Lakeside Club from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on February 18 will feature Tom Ramsay of Honda of America “Race Car Dynamics” as speaker. AEDC and local businesses will host “Engineer for a Day” and the Student Design Competition will be at the Hands-On-Science Center in Tullahoma.

Feb. 16, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. “Strategic Planning in a Technical Environment”   [Handouts]
Feb. 17, 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. “Corporate Financial Management for Non-Financial People”  [Handouts]
Feb. 18, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. “Technical Project Management”  [Handouts]
Feb. 19, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. “Continuous Improvement Philosophies”  [Handouts]
