WELCOMING RECEPTION HELD FOR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR AND WIFE

The newly named Executive Director of the University of Tennessee Space Institute, Dr. Robert “Buddy” Moore and his wife, Judy, were honored recently at a reception at UTSI.

Dr. Ahmad Vakili, Interim Assistant Vice President for Research, introduced Dr. and Mrs. Moore to approximately 125 faculty, staff and students gathered for the welcoming event in the UTSI lobby.

Dr. Moore came to University of Tennessee in 1981 when he joined the UT Knoxville faculty as assistant professor of microbiology. During his years at Knoxville he was head of the department of microbiology and in 2001 he was named associate dean for research and graduate studies for the College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Moore was over the research and graduate programs at the college and also directed the Center of Excellence in Livestock Diseases and Human Health. He directed the Comparative and Experimental Medicine (CEM) graduate program, a joint program of the college and the UT Health Science Center’s Graduate School of Medicine.

Before coming to the University of Tennessee, he was a staff fellow at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), one of the world’s foremost research centers. He was also an associate editor of the Journal of Immunology and editor of Infection and Immunity.

Dr. Moore received his BS and MS degrees from Clemson University and his doctorate from University of Texas at Austin.

Mrs. Moore is the Director of Finance and Administration for the College of Engineering at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
