About UTSI

The University of Tennessee Space Institute (UTSI) is a graduate-level education and research unit headquartered on the University of Tennessee’s Tullahoma campus, adjacent to the epicenter of US aerospace ground testing at Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC).

Renowned for global-reaching, multi-discipline graduate education and research programs, UTSI has awarded over 2,700 graduate degrees; our alumni include numerous astronauts, company presidents, chief scientists, engineering managers and renowned scholars and scientists.

Is UTSI right for me?

Students who chose UTSI for grad school have studied spacecraft engineering, orbital mechanics, microgravity fluid dynamics, rocket propulsion, aerodynamics, aircraft flight testing, biophysics, lasers, fluid dynamics, CFD, image and signal processing, human factors, information systems, maintenance and reliability engineering, Hamiltonian mechanics, wavelets, quantum optics, theoretical physics and yes, we are especially proud of all our astronauts.

While studying at UTSI, there are a number of opportunities available for you to get involved with other students. Through the Student Government Association, there are clubs for a diverse range of interests. Learn more about these opportunities.
