Dr. Kenneth Kimble of Manchester, associate professor of
Mathematics at The University of Tennessee Space Institute, will conduct
a “MATLAB Hands On” short course at UTSI Feb. 20-22.
The goal is to “familiarize engineers and scientists with the benefits
and capabilities of MATLAB sufficient to enable them to use fairly
sophisticated mathematics with minimal skill development,” Kimble said,
“and to be able to fully verify and communicate their results in minimal
time.”
Three days of two sessions each are planned with open labs provided with
the instructor present as the schedule permits.
Fee for the course is $599. Registration may be accomplished by
contacting Becky Stines, director of Continuing Education, MS 15, The
University of Tennessee Space Institute, B.H. Goethert
Parkway,Tullahoma, 37388-8897. She may be reached at (931) 393-7276 or
toll free at 888 822-8874, Ext. 276.
Kimble has taught MATLAB, which he uses extensively in his research, in
short courses and academic courses for several years. He is currently
involved in the construction for the U.S. Air Force of an “Engine
Analysis Testbench,” which uses MATLAB for both algorithm and GUI
production.
