Areas of Research

Excellence in research is the foundation of UTSI’s reputation. About 50 percent of the Institute’s annual revenue comes from research performed for industrial partners from a variety of technological disciplines, reflecting their confidence in UTSI faculty and students to perform unique, successful, and applicable research.

We strive to remain innovative in our fields of research. While our current areas of emphasis are materials and propulsion, the Institute's faculty, staff, and students are involved in a wide range of research and educational pursuits.


Current areas of research emphasis are propulsion, laser applications, and materials processing.
