SES Enrichment Group Spends Day Off at UTSI

Sewanee Elementary School’s fifth grade enrichment program looked forward to President’s Day all school year, but not because they got out of school for the holiday. These devoted youngsters spent their day off at The University of Tennessee Space Institute learning about some advanced science and math topics. At the end of the busy day, the group learned to think like an engineer as they built their own solar cars and raced them. Shown above, after just letting the cars go, are Aaron Willis, Maya Jordan, Jim Kerschner, Ethan Evans, Matthew Baranco, Emily Masters, Peter Sommerschield and Fields Ford. If you look closely, you’ll see that the second car from the left has already taken the lead, and Maya Jordan’s car did win the race!
