It is expected that an employee will inform his/her supervisor prior to the beginning of the work period if there is to be any absence or vacation from the established work schedule. Emergency situations may arise, however, which make this impossible, and these may be resolved later. It is expected that all employees will contact their supervisors (or have someone contact their supervisors for them) before or within the first hour of their scheduled work period if they are to be absent or tardy. In reporting such absences, an employee must contact his/her supervisor or an individual designated by the supervisor when the supervisor is unavailable.
