Eagleville High School Tours UTSI Facilities

On Friday, March 15, 2019, The University of Tennessee Space Institute (UTSI) hosted a high school group from Eagleville School which is located in Rutherford County, TN to tour UTSI facilities.  They are Honors Physics and AP Chemistry students accompanied by their honors and AP teachers, Valerie Stahr and Jamie Casteel.  The group started with a walking tour of the main academic building, which included a stop at the flight simulator where they were able to practice their “flying” skills while learning the importance of pilots training on a flight simulator from Associate Professor of Practice, Steve Brooks.  The tour continued to the Center for Laser Applications (CLA) where Research Assistant Professor, Lee Leonard showed them around the Materials Science and Chemistry labs to explain some of the work and research the scientist do there.  The students were also able to see the 2 wind tunnels located on campus before having lunch at, “The view dining hall”.
