University of Tennessee Space Institute (UTSI) graduate student Jingke Mo was recently awarded the Chancellor’s 2017 citation for “Extraordinary Professional Promise” at the Chancellor’s Honors Banquet held in Knoxville, Tennessee. This honor is awarded to students who demonstrate professional promise in their teaching, research or other outstanding contributions.

Mo completed his undergraduate work in Beijing, China and received his Master of Science degree from the University of Memphis. He completed his doctoral studies in aerospace engineering in December 2016 under the supervision of his major adviser Feng-Yuan Zhang, Associate Professor in the Mechanical, Aerospace and Biomedical Engineering Department (MABE) at UTSI. Mo is currently a Post-Doctoral Research Associate in the NanoHELP group at UTSI.

During his graduate study for his Ph.D. degree in aerospace engineering, he initialed several research projects; corrosion investigation in proton exchange membrane electrolyzer cells (PEMECs), additive manufacturing for liquid/gas diffusion layers (LGDLs), developing a novel thin/well-tunable LGDL for PEMECs, and visualization investigation of electrochemical reaction and microfluidics in microchannel of PEMECs.

His work encompasses corrosion investigation in proton exchange membrane electrolyzer cells (PEMECs), additive manufacturing for liquid/gas diffusion layers (LGDLs), developing a novel thin/well-tunable LGDL for PEMECs, and visualization investigation of electrochemical reaction and microfluidics in microchannel of PEMECs.
