Peter Aamodt is UTSI’s New Assistant VP for Administration and Finance
UT Associate Vice President and UTSI Chief Operating Officer Dr. Don Daniel is pleased to announce that Peter Aamodt has joined The University of Tennessee Space Institute this month as Assistant Vice President for Administration and Finance.
Aamodt comes to UTSI from the University of Cincinnati where he most recently held the position of Assistant Dean for Administrative and Financial Affairs for the UC College of Engineering, serving as the chief financial and human resources officer for the college. He previously held the position of Cost Compliance Director at UC, responsible for indirect cost proposals, fringe benefit and specialized service center accounting, and sponsored award labor verifications.
“We are delighted to have Peter join the leadership team at UTSI,” said Dr. Daniel. “He has outstanding experience at two other top universities and, as our Assistant Vice President for Administration and Finance, he will be involved in a wide variety of key decisions at the Space Institute. I look forward to working with him very much.”
Aamodt brings with him 20 years of experience in higher education finance and accounting, mostly in area of sponsored research cost accounting policy and compliance. Before taking the position at the University of Cincinnati, he worked at the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena as a cost accounting specialist, responsible for preparing and defending indirect cost proposals submitted to federal government. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Pitzer College in Claremont, California, where he majored in Political Studies, and two master’s degrees, one in Business Administration and the other in International Studies from Claremont Graduate University.
“UTSI is in the midst of exciting changes under Dr. Daniel’s leadership. I look forward to providing the administrative and financial support required for the Institute’s growth and vitality,” said Aamodt.
Aamodt is a former president of the Ohio Association of College and University Business Officers, as well as a former co-chairman of national and regional college cost accounting conferences. He and his wife, Karen, are still in the process of relocating to the Middle Tennessee area from their home in Northern Kentucky.
