401(k)/457– State matches $50 per month on 401(k)

Enrollment in and changes to 401(k) and 457 deferred compensation plans can be made through the Empower Retirement website.

To access the site without a PIN, call KeyTalk® at 1-800-922-7772 to speak to a customer service representative. Hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Central Time, Monday through Friday.

Once you have logged in, go to the “Transactions” menu and select “Change Paycheck Contribution.”

To enroll in a 403(b) plan, contact your company of choice and request a 403(b) enrollment form to complete and include with the UT 403(b) enrollment/change formbeing submitted to the UT Office of Benefits and Retirement. (click here to see list of providers).

To change your 403(b) investment allocations or terminate your plan, please contact your 403(b) provider.


Empower Retirement Links for 401(k) & 457 accounts

Empower Retirement (formerly Great West) 401k & 457 program changes  —  For existing members of the 401k and 457 plans, any changes to your account after July 1, 2014, should be done online by logging into the Empower site  If you do not have an account, you can call Empower Retirement at 1-800-922-7772, obtain a temporary PIN, and log into the site and enroll or make any changes you wish. You can view your account balance, investment option allocations, past transactions, transfer among funds, change future contributions, and many other options. See the Quick Reference Guide for additional information.

The state may match your contribution up to $50 per month in the 401(k) plan. Availability of the match is subject to funds being appropriated each year.

How do I register for On-Line account access for 401(k) & 457 accounts?

If you have not yet used the Empower Account Access feature, it is very easy to get started. Just click on Empower Links Account Access. If you don’t have the four digit PIN that Empower mailed to you, you can call 1-800-922-7772 and request a temporary PIN or just click on the Request PIN option. Empower will mail you a PIN (Personal Identification Number) in just a few days. Once you have a PIN, that and your Social Security Number are all you need to use this secure system. You can view your daily account values, compare your current values to any previous day’s values, make transfers, change your future investment direction, look at your beneficiary designation, and review your deposits. Most participants who try it once use it again and again!

Retiree Insurance

If you qualify under the State of Tennessee’s Insurance Committee rules, you may continue insurance coverage for yourself and your dependents into retirement.
