Tennessee Valley Woodworkers Meeting Monthly at Space Institute
Tennessee Valley Woodworkers will begin holding monthly meetings at The University of Tennessee Space Institute on Sept. 19.
The group will meet in Room H111 at 7 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month. In the past, their meetings have been held at the Duck River Electric Membership Corp. building in Winchester.
Loyd Ackerman of Manchester is president of the organization which has 145 members. From 60 to 70 of the members usually attend meetings. Many of the wood-workers make various kinds of furniture while others carve smaller objects.
Tom Cowan of Winchester is vice president, Bob Lowrance of Estill Springs, is secretary, and Henry Davis of Winchester Springs, is treasurer, and Larry Bowers of Estill Springs is publicity chairman. Chuck Taylor of Manchester is editor of the newsletter Splinters, which formerly was edited by Tom Gillard Jr. of Tullahoma.
Joel W. Muehlhauser of Manchester, UT assistant vice president and UTSI dean of research, and Richard Gulley of Decherd, manager of computer services, are among Space Institute employees active in the organization.
