UTSI’s 2025 Summer Internship Program Concludes

Each summer, the University of Tennessee Space Institute hosts a nine-week internship program for undergraduate students nationwide. During the internship, each student works with a professor in fields such as hypersonics, space propulsion, biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, and materials science. The program culminates with a presentation by each intern detailing their research and experience at the institute. This summer, 22 interns participated, representing a diverse group of universities including the University of Tennessee, University of Tennessee at Martin, University of Alabama, Middle Tennessee State University, University of Kansas, Mississippi State University, Colby College, Embry–Riddle Aeronautical University, and the United States Air Force Academy. The interns’ majors included mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, mechatronics, chemistry, and physics.
