E. Lara Lash, a master’s degree student studying aerospace engineering at the University of Tennessee Space Institute (UTSI), has been selected to participate in the 2014 Transatlantic Program for Young Technology Leaders (TAP-YTL) during June 2014. Applications for the program are open to U.S. students and young professionals, with only 12 applications selected to participate in the program.

“Lash’s selection to participate in this competitive program speaks highly of her qualifications and the quality of students at UTSI,” commented Robert Moore, executive director of UTSI.

Lash will be participating as a member of the aerospace delegation of the TAP-YTL. As a member of the delegation, she will have the opportunity to view cutting-edge developments and innovations in aerospace engineering during the eight-day trip throughout Germany. Participants will engage key players of the German aeronautics and astronautics industries, visit leading research institutions, and personally interact with engineers and business leaders that are searching for the next generation of aerospace innovation.

Trevor Moeller, Lash’s advisor and the program coordinator for the MABE department at UTSI, stated, “Lara is a very valuable member of my research team, taking on roles ranging from design, to testing and analysis, to interactions with sponsors. I am confident that she has the skill set required to represent UTSI and the U.S. student delegation well, while in Germany.”
