Lincoln County High School Wins Thomas Jefferson Essay Contest

The 13th Annual Thomas Jefferson Lecture was held on September 22, at the University of Tennessee Space Institute (UTSI) in Tullahoma, Tennessee. Area high school students were given the opportunity to write an essay and prizes were awarded at the conclusion of the lecture.  Lincoln County High School student, Ms. Jocelyn Hawley, placed first with her essay entitled “Thomas Jefferson and the Principles of ‘98” and Jocelyn was awarded a $300 check.

The Lincoln County High School English Department was awarded a $500 check to support program development, accepted by Jocelyn’s teacher, Mrs. Theresa Patton.

The oral presentation of the essay was presented at UTSI to a panel of judges on September 10.  The judges were impressed by both the written essay and the oral presentation.
