Ying-Chu “Susan” Wu, UTSI Professor Emeritus of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Science, has been recognized as one of CalTech’s 2013 Distinguished Alumni Award recipients.

Professor Wu is one of the early faculty members of the Space Institute, joining UTSI in September 1965. Her research focused on magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) power generation. During her tenure, professor Wu became recognized as an international expert in MHD technology, leading the Institutes energy program. She is credited with pioneering analytical models for MHD performance. Retiring from the University, professor Wu formed her own company, Engineering Research and Consulting, Inc., which was located in UTSl’s research park.
