UT Athletic Director Mike Hamilton to Speak at UTSI

UT Space Institute’s Support Council is hosting a “meet and greet” dinner at the UTSI cafeteria on Aug. 5, with Mike Hamilton, UT Athletic Director, as the featured speaker. The Support Council invites all area UT alumni, supporters and fans to attend the event set to begin at 5:45 p.m. with a dinner. This event will offer a unique opportunity for middle Tennessee UT sports fans to meet the man at the top of UT Sports.

Mike Hamilton, UT Athletic Director has been with the University of Tennessee since 1992, accepting his current position in 2003. Under Hamilton’s vision and leadership, the University of Tennessee continues to run one of this nation’s most respected athletics programs.

One of the most noted decisions Hamilton’s made as Athletic Director is the plan to renovate Neyland Stadium and prepare it for the next 75 years. “Neyland Stadium holds a special place in the hearts of Tennessee fans everywhere,” Hamilton said. “Over the past 86 years, it has grown to become one of America’s greatest football stadiums. I believe these renovations will enhance the fan experience for years to come.” Begun in November of 2005, the three-phase project is expected to be complete in 8-12 years at a total project cost of approximately $115 million.

The buffet dinner will be held in the UTSI cafeteria, and the cost is $12.50 a plate. A brief Support Council meeting and the featured program will follow the meal. Please note that reservations are required by Aug. 1. You may RSVP to Madge Gibson by phone at (931) 393-7284, by email at mgibson@utsi.edu, or by fax at 455-7266.
